London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum SS13 My highlights

Dear Readers,
I know I'm a bit late on this post, but what can I say life got in the way of my blogging calendar.
I confess I sometimes enjoy looking at WHO attended the fashion week shows and what they wore, more than the show itself.

Burberry has in recent years won itself a place among the British luxury fashion bands, and the celebs who attended did not disappint in the least.

I hope you like the pics; these are my picks of the most interesting celebs that turned out, and no I didn't include any Olympics winners or One Directioners-I'm talking serious star power here..

First off, how I could I not include the famous fashion critic with her signature(read permanent) bob-hair cut that reminds me uncannily of Willy Wonka as played by Johnny Depp. Still, I have to admit the lady's got class.

Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely the famous Sports Illustrated cover swimsuit model, was all coverd up in a very fall appropriate snug outfit.

Olivia Palermo rocked the country elite look, though her smoky eys might be a straying into the racoon eyes territtory- but I'll let it pass coz she's so cute.

Bollywood heartthrob and a member of the now defunct Indian aristocracy, Saif Ali Khan cut a fine figure in his 3 piece suit, with the skinny spotted tie adding a bit of whimsical touch.

I'm not sure what Emma Watson was thinking when she wore this dress, although the belt, zip and style might be interesting, i hate fabric it looks like those 'make a dress from rubbish' projects they make fashion design students do- I guess it was London fashion Week and she hoped there would be far more bizarre things on the runway-what other explanation is there?

Burberry's Back with Body EDT and Bombshell Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely

Burberry launched the hugely successful Burberry Body Eau De Parfum last summer, it was described as a  fruity composition that begins with notes of fresh green absinthe, peach and freesia. Roses and iris are in the heart, leaning on the base of sandalwood, cashmerean, musk, amber and vanilla I felt it was more woody and musky than fruity but suitable as an EDP.

This summer Burberry decided they had a good thing going and differentiated their product by launching Burberry Body EDP  which is a lighter fruitier fragrance blending new ingredients like green apple and tea.

'The stunning Rosie Huntingdon Whitely remains the face of the perfume, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Burberry is very popular in Saudi Arabia, the ladies here just love it. The brand exudes high fashion and luxury and its haymarket check is a well-loved icon.

Saudi Arabia Five Funny Things I Just Don’t Get

*Disclaimer: I love Saudi Arabia and its wonderful people; this post is not meant to be offensive, or judgemental about anyone or their culture. It is written for the purpose of light hearted entertainment, and if someone reads it they might be able to shed some light on the matter ....*

WHY?

1. When a couple dines out, more often than not they sit next to each other, rather than opposite each other. I always thought it would be easier to talk if you are facing one another, (Please get your mind out of the gutter; overt p.d.a is not an option in Saudi.) Although you see less of this seating arrangement now, it still happens.

2. When someone bumps into you by accident etc, instead of saying ‘Sorry’ or انا اسفه / انا اسف, people often say ma3lesh which basically means it’s okay-no problem/no harm done, for a while this used to really aggravate me: Excuse me! I will be the judge of that, I’m the ‘victim’ or aggrieved party here. But as it’s said with a smile, and some (hey chill out dude) gestures, you get used to it and just accept it, as instead of sorry, but deep down you know that it doesn't really mean sorry, although some people including Google translate it as forgive me, you know. It is a malady that can affects the whole culture and create a somewhat irresposible attitude to things, it can be found in Egypt as well.  Again, I’ve noticed the younger set has switched to the English- "Sorry" or its Arabic equivalent. 

3. When strict segregation of sexes is practiced everywhere but  male gynaecologists are common. You would think all the male ob-gyns would be unemployed.

4.We have male lingerie salesmen, see above-thankfully this is slowly being phased out.

5. Bedouin women, who live in the villages/desert can drive-yes, they can and do; while urban women can’t. It seems they are far more modernised. It has been said that they can take care of themselves, as they carry guns. I guess it’s high time designers such as Gucci, LV, and Burberry introduced their own line of revolvers, and pistols,  the empowerment of urban Saudi ladies depends on it! Until then will a BB gun do?
