Hot Gucci Ad for New Perfume Premiere with Blake Lively

Ooh la la, is that Blake Lively or Marilyn Monroe?
Have you been missing your weekly dose of Blake Lively glamour, ever since Gossip Girl ended , I certainly have. Not to worry, the Gossip Girl star has been making waves as she has been cast as the new face of the Gucci's latest perfume Premiere. Blake Lively exudes old Hollywood glamour, the golden waves, and dark eyes transform her perfectly. In fact, I'm wondering if she hasn't got more of a Marilyn Monroe likeness as compared to Michelle Williams who played her in the movie 'My Week With Marilyn'.

Here's a colour photo of Blake Lively at the shooting of the Italian fashion house's new fragrance ad. Blake look's even better in colour don't you think?

There has been some controvery circling the web that the Gucci ad for Premiere 'starring' Blake Livey is very similar to the Mademoiselle bags advert she did for Chanel. I think the ads have just two things in common Blake Lively, and her reflection in the mirror. I don't think that's enough to declare Gucci copied Chanel, and I personally prefer the Gucci ad over the Chanel one. Gucci's ad is very much classic, old Hollywood glamour, and a black and white shot. The Chanel ad on the other hand has more contemporary vibe to its more 'Serena' edgy, modern, a bit dark.

See the ad below what do you think? Which one is hotter? Do you think Blake Lively exudes a Marilyn Monroe-esque charm?

Lisa Eldridge Best Make-Up Tutorials

Like many of you, when I’m bored one of my favourite pick-me-up sites is YouTube. I like watching cute funny video clips as much as the next person, but often I’d rather watch a video on something I’m actually interested in. A friend recommended Lisa Eldridge’s channel and I must say she does the most amazing tutorials. Isn’t YouTube wonderful? Now you have free make-up application tutorials, performed by a professional make-up artist, at the tips of your fingertips.

Lisa Eldridge is a renowned British make-up artist, her clients include Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Liz Hurley,  Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, and Selma Hayek.

She has collaborated with Shisedo to deveop a new collection and is currently the Creative Director for No.7 make-up line.

One of my favourite LE tutorials is her Chanel Spring 2012 make-up, I think the colours in the palette are simply gorgeous and the resulting look is a fresh and peachy perfect for spring.

Another beautiful tutorial is the Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired make-up. It a classic look all Breakfast at Tiffany’s fans must try at least once.

A more colourful party look tutorial features Amber Andersen and has Green smoky eye with a darker lip, perfect when you want to dazzle at some event.

Hope you enjoy watching /trying them out yourself.

Enchanted by Taylor Swift's Tantalizing Tresses

I confess readers I have a bit of girl-crush on Taylor Swift. She looks like such girly girl. I absolutely love her hair, adore it, and I wish I could tame my very stubborn-mind of its own hair, into the beautiful hairstyles that Taylor has been sporting lately.I don't listen to her music, but I'm happy to see her at awards and places so that I can see which hairstyle she's sporting today.

Taylor Swift has naturally curly and I think blonde hair, and I think it suits her to a tee as country singer, don't you?

Her side swooped bangs are pretty much a part of her signature style as her curly locks.

Taylor looks just as stunning accessorizing with a delicate headband and her perfect sunshine curls gathered to one side and tumbling over one shoulder.

The faux bob has a 1920s look to it, accompanied by the bright lipstick.

Another example of Taylor exuding old Hollywood glamour in loose waves tamed into a bun.

Now for the impossible to achieve long list of updos. I'm at a loss for words, I'll let you look at them, please feel free to comment.

Don't you just love how her bangs are curled and incorporatedinto the rest of the hairstyle, how would some one who's all thumbs and lacks proper hand eye coordination ever recreate this...well, I can dream.

As a bonus and in order not to disappoint some visitors who have arrived at my sight looking for turorials,
I have provided a link to a Taylor Swift curly hair tutorial, and the absolutely mind bogglingly amazing tutorial for Taylor Swift's Love Story updo tutorial

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella, a Book Review

My latest Sophie_Kinsella read, is Twenties Girl. personally, this was just a bit disappointing, I have particularly enjoyed the Shopaholic series and her other books. This was a bit strange as the main charachter Lara, although a pretty much formulaic heroine, for Kinsella, is haunted by a ghost, of her great Aunt Sadie, and although she died at the ripe old age of 105, the ghost is a 23 year old version of Sadie! Needless to say Sadie was in her twenties in the 1920s! So, if you are a fan of this era and the glamour it represented, the book is full of quite a few 1920s fashion, make-up, lifestyle references. I think thats where it lost me. I should've known by the title but, I tend to get my decades mixed up, and am familiar up to the 50s, 40s even, but before that my interest wanes a bit.

I know, I know, the title of the book is self-explanatory, but I thought it would be a bit more.....interesting /glamourous/relatable. I had to google flapper dress, as I had a 70s style flapper in mind, only then did the first date outfit, with the feather head-dress and all make any sort of sense. Maybe its just me and my ignorance of 1920s culture.

1920s flapper dress, with fringe hemming and feathre headress, and cigarette holder!

The other thing that irked me, again this is going to sound rather shallow: I found it Aunt Sadie's tale of unrequited love and lonely retirement life especially after her stroke, rather tragic. I classify Sophie Kinsella as an excellent chick-lit writer, keeping it light and entertaining all the way, this wasn't completely so, and I had no fair warning.

E-Journalism

I was viewing my last attempt at blogging, well over a year ago, and I realized it was much much better attempt in terms of content, although I failed to promote the blog effectively. The fact that at that time I was busy with my Masters thesis could have something to do with both points.

However, I have decided to make a real effort this time. I had a dream once to be a writer and as I'm only in my mid -twenties its definitely not too late to make an effort, and blogs are the newest ways of getting oneself published.

I seem to be lacking inspiration getting bogged down in the monotony of life and somehow observing human behavior and the different phases of life has left me with a mild distaste for life itself. Don't get me wrong I am not suicidal, but I feel disappointed in the realties of life, somehow the glamour of each thing fades as you grow older leaving behind it grittiness.

As I try to become more religious, and struggle with my "addiction" to tv, again I feel myself give in to the instant gratification of being fed visual chocolate, which dumbs the brain and doesn't do wonders for our spiritual health either.

Watch this space for more ponderings from a perpetual dreamer.
